Childhood Flashback

7 Miles Today; This morning's walk was more like the old Forrest, I enjoyed it a whole lot more when the old heel is on the mend. The weather cooperated also, 68 degrees and sunny. Forrest is standing at the main 4 corners of Atlanta, Missouri pop. 450 souls. Hwy. 63 North is rural America at its finest. Forrest better like the surroundings, because if he likes livestock and crops, just wait until he enters Iowa. O.K. now the boring stuff. With 2008 half over, my numbers read like this. For the 1st six months this year my miles were 1342 compared to last year at 1033 miles. My June 08, totaled 236mi. My six month daily average is 7.3/day for 2008, compared to 5.4/day for 2007. Holy Cow! maybe Forrest will keep right on walking North across the border into CANADA and meet Sgt. Preston of the Northwest Mounted Police, and his trusted sled dog "Yukon King." (one of my favorite radio shows as a little kid). A little tibbit at the end of each radio show Sgt Peston would pet his trusted dog King and say, "Well King, this case is closed." That show along with the "Green Hornet", "Sky King", "The Lone Ranger" were great. Now that's what Forrest calls the Good Old Days. Until Tomorrow Walk Forrest Walk

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow

7 Miles Today; Forrest can say one thing for sure, today was so much better than yesterday. My heel hopefully is on the up tick. My time today was 1 hour 56 minutes. Yesterday it was 6 miles in 2 hours & 4 minutes. If Forrest was a horse he would have been somebodies steak dinner in Paris France by now. The quote, "You are entitled to the pain of you decision" is absolutely true, but Forrest would respectfully add "The end results of your decision is such an incredible high it's difficult to describe." I'm 13 miles North of Macon Missour, so far there is a lot of nice farm land to enjoy. Please read the banner on the right. My bride has made Forrest's quote of the day.....God Bless, Walk Forrest Walk

Medical Malfunction

6 Miles Today: Forrest wanted a big day to finish the week. But a sore right heel kept me in the slow lane. My problems occurred yesterday on one of my steep hills. It seems Forrest stretched out a little to much, thus pulling a muscle in his left hip area. I didn't realize that I was favoring my injury but I must have, because my heel was very tender when I finish yesterday and still is today. My mileage for the week was 55 miles. Maybe Forrest should take bike riding lessons from my bride and Tri-Girl. On second thought I'll just suck it up and keep on walking. Forrest is now officially heading North, with Waterloo, Iowa my next important layover. Have a very nice week-end Walk Forrest Walk

Patriotic Season --- July 4, 1776

8 Miles Today; Today's walk was very humid, with the temperature around 80 degrees Forrest worked up a good sweat. Here I am, in downtown Macon, Missouri population 5,540 on a very hot day. I see where Macon was founded in the early 1820's by settlers from mostly Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina. When Forrest gets finished with all the welcome greetings from the town fathers, I'm heading straight for the local Waffle House (if they have one) for a snack and then it is on to "Iowa" some 75 miles to the state line. So for the next 6 weeks or so Forrest will be pounding the pavement traveling North on Hwy. 63.....A little sidebar for anyone reading this entry. It seems like everybody in Missouri proudly displays "Old Glory" everywhere and everyday. God Bless, Walk Forrest Walk

Feels Soooo Good

7 Miles Today; It's hard to write with my feet submerged in the clear blue water of Long Branch Lake. Long Branch State Park is located on the western edge of Macon, Mo. If my blog is short today, it's because this beach gives Forrest the option to relax or "gawk" (to stare or gape stupidly) at the ladies. At my age, it's heavy on relaxing and light on the "gawking". Tomorrow it's downtown Macon, , for the custom handshakes with the city fathers and then it's NORTH to Iowa on Hwy. 63. My sign off message is for Dr. W. Schoonover. My dentist appointment yesterday went very well. Thanks to you, Forrest is still on track to complete his mission. God Bless, Walk Forrest Walk

Rural America At Its Best

9 Miles Today; It was a perfect day for walking, 70 degrees & overcast. Forrest felt pretty good physically so I extended my route. My time for the 9 mi. was 2hr & 31 minutes. My Ipod really helps me keep a nice pace. At this rate, Forrest will be in Macon, Missouri on Friday. There is a huge lake and state park on the western edge of town. It's called Long Branch State Park. Forrest now has a place to soak his hot feet when he arrives in Macon pop. 5,538. Put the coffee on Macon, Forrest is coming to town!! Farming Country

8 Miles Today; Me & Jessie-Marie today, since Forrest is now in open country, there's farm land on both sides of the road. I asked Jessie Marie (the dog) if she wanted to go for a walk and see the cows, that's all it took, she brought me her leash (it hangs on the door knob) and off we went. Jessie knows when she gets home, she gets "Ice Cream"!! She has got Forrest right in the palm of her paw.....Jessie saw her friend ,"Biscuit" a golden retreiver, on this morning's walk. They had a couple minutes of sniffs and off we went. Forrest makes terrible time when I have the mutt with me. Macon Missouri, is 24 miles East of me, I'll be there Saturday the latest. I say good-bye this morning with a Abe Lincoln quote: "I'm a slow walker, but I never walk backwards." Walk Forrest Walk

Another Day At The Office

8 Miles Today; Today's walk went pretty well, except Forrest had pain in his left foot. The discomfort came from the arch. Can a person get a stress fracture in their foot? Rest is not an option for me. Maybe cutting back on my miles a little, Forrest will see how he feels tomorrow. Enough whinning already, it was a cool morning, temperature about 68 degrees and very sunny. Forrest had a nice breakfast in downtown Brookfield Missouri, pop 4769. Now it's back on Hwy 36 East to Macon Missouri, some 32 miles from here, then North to Iowa. Forrest heard from his friends in Kansas City Mo. They read my blog for the first time, so from this crazy Forrest somewhere in Missouri, a very special good morning to Dawn & Brian Galaviz. Tomorrow Forrest will be out in the middle of God's Country so I'll have more time to write. God Bless Walk Forrest Walk

Stop And Smell The Roses

7 Miles Today; The scene in my blog is the actual picture of the of The John J. Pershing State Park, in Laciede, Missouri. The area attracted General Pershing during his boyhood years and continues to attract visitors today including yours truly, "Forrest". The people here say the Pershing State Park is the jewel of northern Missouri, I must say, Forrest is in total agreement. It's a 3,527-acre wetland masterpiece. After a little R&R here, its on the road again. The town of Brookfield is 5 miles West. Read my lips, "It's hashbrowns & eggs tomorrow in downtown Brookfield" Forrest just loves those carbs. The bad thing is you have to put the miles in to burn them off. I sign off today with a Sunday morning "hello" to Tri-Girl from New Jersey, who is desperately trying to catch up to Forrest, my people are on the look-out for speeding cyclists. Until tomorrow, Life is Great, Enjoy It.... Walk Forrest Walk

Class of 1961

8 Miles Today: What a morning, Forrest doesn't quite know where to start. Usually my walks are just me and my Ipod. But today turned out to be very special. It started out, with me and the dog (Jessie Marie) and no Ipod or stopwatch. Saturday being the last day of my walking week, I knew I had logged a mileage total of 54 miles , so a nice quiet stroll in the beautiful morning sunlight was all that was on this man's agenda. "Wrong" About 5 miles into my walk a SUV pulls up and the occupants wanted to know if Jessie Marie was all right. Angela and Audrey our friends were worried about the mutt, not me mind you, just the mutt. Then my bride, Joanne pulls up in the truck, looking for the dog and wondering if she was O.K., again nothing about yours truly....Forrest can't do anything without having an APB put out on me (all points bulletin). Jessie Marie gets more attention than Forrest. Toward the end of my walk, a car pulls next to me, and it turns out to the sister-law of my childhood buddy and classmate Dr. Jeff Martin. Georgia and I had a nice visit. My blog today is dedicated to, Jeff and Janice Martin, from Wisconsin. Forrest will be in Wisconsin later this year. Today I find myself 12 miles West of Brookfield Missouri on Hwy 36. It won't be long before Forrest will be turning North towards Iowa. Forrest signs off today feeling good about life. Summer Solstice

8 Miles Today: Solstice ( Latin: meaning "Sun Stands Still") There has been a lot of rain lately. A little more sun would be a welcome sight. Summer Solstice, 1st day of Summer, and Forrest is slowly making his way along Hwy 36, the scenery in Missouri is beautiful, there is a location West of me, The Pershing State Park, and Historical Site that I want to stop at. More about this in future blogs. It looks like Forrest will be turning North before he sees any of the flooding along the Mississippi. Today Forrest wore his latest new shoes, that is the 7th pair since the journey began. I stayed with the New Balance 992's. I went with the color blue-gray. I was using white, but going through snow, water, dirt. White shoes take on a awful look, you know Forrest has a image to keep up. I don't want the New Balance people to look me up in the and put duct tape over there logo. (ha-ha). You've probably saying "Boy, that Forrest is in a very good mood today" and with that I can say YOU'RE RIGHT. Walk Forrest Walk

Scattered, Smothered, Covered

7 Miles Today: Well Forrest had breakfast in Chillicothe, but not at Denny's like he planned, but at The Waffle House. Yep, eggs, ham, toast, and those famous "Hashbrowns", (scattered, smothered, & covered). As Forrest's made his way to Hwy 36, (28mi. from Brookfield) his tummy was sooooooo full that the locals where making fun of him as he waddled back on to the highway. Forrest won't need anymore carbs until he gets to Brookfield. Last night Forrest and his bride attended Dewitt's Baseball Team's annual season ending banquet. After winning The Diamond Classic for the first time in its 47 year history, the evenings events were nice. Forrest (the voice of Panther Baseball according to Coach Brya) received an autographed team picture taken in centerfield in front of the scoreboard showing the final score. Dewitt 5 Grand Ledge 4. I was also presented a cool championship T-shirt by the team members. Tri-Girl, the picture of Jessie-Marie is of her pouting that is what she does when she can't go with Forrest on one of his walks. Enjoying Missouri

8 Miles Today; It was really cool this morning, 55 degrees and cloudy, Forrest wore his ND sweatshirt which was just right for the conditions. I'm located near the Eastern city limits of Chillicothe, Missouri pop 9000. Chillicothe, is the largest town Forrest has passed through since St Joseph, June 7th. Not only is there's a Denny's, you can add Big Mac's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, & Applebee's to the equation. If anyone wants to locate Forrest in the City of Chillicothe, look for some goof ball walking West on Hwy 36 with mustard on his clothes. My Father's Day present from my daughter Renae who lives in Chicago came in yesterday's mail, a 7-part mini-series John Adams, by the Pulitzer Prize-winning Author David McCullough. So far I've watch 2 of the 3 disks. The oratory in this program is incredible. The spoken word can really impact a person. Forrest, while watching this piece of history on a DVD I felt like I was present in Constitution Hall in Philadelphia when the delegates from the 13 colonies signed the Declaration Of Independence. Each person who inked that document knew that his signature could be death by hanging. Wow, that's heavy stuff. The John Adams DVD earns a place on my Best of the Best List along with Band of Brothers. Thank-you so much for the gift Renae. Where is the gift certificate from Home Depot?? (just kidding). Just Keep Walking

8 Miles Today; Great weather this morning, sunny, the temperature in the low 70's. My time was 2 hours and 9 min. How can Forrest have breakfast at Denny's in the town of Mooresville Missouri, there's nothing here? A blinker light is all there is of downtown. With a population of 90 citizens what was Forrest expecting a brunch at the NBC Studios in Rockefeller Center in New York City. My only option is putting a sign on my back saying, "Will Give Interviews For Food." Forrest can always pick wild berries as I walk through this beautiful farming country. My next town is Chillicothe and nice size town of 9000. Forrest is counting on a Denny's or how about a Waffle House to really load up on carbs. Forrest has another 70 miles on West Hwy 36 before turning North towards Iowa. Walk Forrest Walk

Looking For Votes

7 Miles Today; Forrest felt like he was a politician running for a township office, I stopped and talked to 4 people today during my walk. One lady had her six month old grandson out for a walk. A guy I knew stopped in a van, and a retired couple on bikes stop to say hello. My walk today took a whopping 2.5 hr to complete. Early morning walks are the best for faster times. Tomorrow Forrest enters Mooresville, Missouri, just 5 miles away. God Bless Walk Forrest Walk

Father's Day On The Road

9 Miles Today; Hwy 36, twelve miles West of Mooresville Missouri. Not much happening on this quiet Sunday Afternoon. Temperature 80 degrees and cloudy. All Forrest can say is "I'm glad I'm not in the Hawkeye State of Iowa". Forrest would have to acquire water wings to move around in that state at the present time. So with that said, Missouri is the best place for Forrest for the foreseeable future. Walk Forrest Walk

The Best Medicine

7 Miles Today; After last night, Forrest was sure his streak of walking days were over. Boy, was this puppy under the weather. I've been coughing a little for about 3 days. From 3pm yesterday until this morning Forrest was down for the 10 count. Thanks to my bride, she nurtured me back so I could get my walk in. Forrest is not 100% yet. With a big dose of "W & W" (wife & walk) I've turned the corner. Now that's "The Best Medicine". I almost forgot my total mileage for the week was 53 miles. I'm happy with that considering the heel, & summer cold episodes that took its toll on Forrest this week. The worst thing about being sick last night, was Forrest missed his beloved U.S. Open in HD. As soon as I sign off here its back to the Lazy-Boy for more golf. Forrest can't play a lick of golf but enjoys the heck out of watching it. Walk Forrest Walk

The Milestone 600

7 Miles Today; My lead in sounds like a NASCAR promo. Forrest hopes he didn't infringe on any copyright laws. If so, my son, "The Dallas Guy" will come to Forrest's rescue. For 600 consecutive days, beginning October 20, 2006 through today June 13, 2008, Forrest has hit the bricks each day for a total of 3865 miles, for an average of 6.4/day. So far this amazing journey has taken him through 13 of this nation's finest states. 16 states if I count N. Carolina, S. Carolina, and Georgia. As of today, Kansas is the state that made the biggest impression on Forrest. With my next Milestone Report Forrest will have Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan added to his Journey List. Now back to Cameron Mo. a little town of 286 souls. Forrest passed through so early this morning, not one citizen knew that the man was even there. Hwy 36 is my home for the next 28 miles, then the people of Mooresville will get their chance to meet Forrest. Yep, it looks like Tuesday morning's breakfast will be at Denny's in Mooresville, Missouri....Forrest ends his blog today with a special hello to his niece Ashley, and Pastor Bryan Crote, of the Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church of Atlanta, Ga. Ashley, the CD you produced is one of my favorite's. Walk Forrest Walk

Great Morning

10 Miles Today; Forrest was only going to walk 7 this morning. But once on the road the old boy felt so good he said to himself, "Forrest, if you want to stay ahead of a certain person from New Jersey, you better start racking up some valuable miles on those NB's." The weather was perfect, the heel is feeling a lot better, etc. Just like the lead in for my blog, it really was a great morning. Today Forrest is 4 miles West of Cameron and 35 miles from Mooresville Missouri on Hwy 36. Tomorrow is a special day for Forrest. Stay tuned. Walk Forrest Walk

Big Brown

7 Miles Today; Just like Big Brown the race horse, Forrest has hoof problems too. My right heel is still tender. It's a little better than yesterday, I'll keep my miles reduced until the hoof is completely healed. Taking a day off is not an option. All the local baseball teams are out of the state tourney. Grand Ledge & Lansing Catholic both lost their quarter final contests. Forrest predicts both clubs will be back on top again next year. Beautiful day for walking, 72 degrees and sunny. Forrest is 14 miles from Cameron Missouri. A short blog today, Forrest has a dentist appointment in a half hour. Until tomorrow, Walk Forrest Walk

A Welcome Rain

7 Miles Today; This morning's light rain was a welcome relief. It rained for the whole 2 hours but it really felt nice. I quote my childhood priest. "You people still can make it to church when it rains, your car won't shrink" So with that said, there is no excuse not to get out of the house and exercise. Forrest is still having right heel pain. It's not bad, but it's cutting into my distance and time. I think my shoes are ready for retirement. There is almost 700 miles on those babies. This morning Forrest passed through the small town of Easton, pop 280. No stoplight just a 4 way stop. Next up is Cameron, Mo. 21 miles East of me. FYI, Cameron is located in the county of CLINTON. Now that alone, is valid reason to write about this hamlet. More tomorrow. Forrest is on his way to a baseball quarter-final game in Mt. Pleasant. Flushing vs Jenison @ noon. Hopefully with clear skies ahead, Forrest bids you fair well. Walk Forrest Walk

Run Forrest Run

7 Miles Today; Yep, just like the scene in the movie, FORREST GUMP, this Forrest was "runnnnnnning" instead of walking. Now I have to fill in the blanks, so here goes. Yesterday afternoon my bride and I attended the best open house in my many years on this planet. The guest thought of everything. From the pictures and mementos of the 3 graduates, to the food. Yesterday when Forrest said he was going to a Mongolian Barbecue, he wasn't kidding. The Mongolian Mongolian restaurant, catered the party. This country bumpkin from Dewitt, thought he was at big time party at the Hamptons on Long Island N.Y. Forrest kept his eye out for Barbra Waters or Regis Phibin to appear. Everything was wonderful until the black clouds started rolling in, then the wind started to pick up, a little sprinkle started. Then somebody said we should seek shelter. SEEK, I mean to tell ya, people took off like they just robbed a bank. So Forrest stuffed what he could in his cheeks, mouth, etc and ran with the others toward whatever shelter they could get to the quickest. Well anyway, on the way to the car I heard someone yell "RUN FORREST RUN" my bride really got a laugh out of that one. That was such a nice open house to have a storm like that hit. We didn't go back but I imagine the host still managed to have a beautiful day to remember. Fast forward to Missouri, Forrest is 3 miles West of the little town of Easton, and 125 miles from Macon on Hwy 36. This whole area reminds me of the Potterville, Vermontville area. Tomorrow is another baseball day for Forrest, I'm going to CMU to watch Flushing play Jenison in the State Quarter Finals at noon. So it looks like Forrest will get the worm tomorrow morning. Sunday Morning In St. Joseph, Missouri

8 Miles Today; Very humid this morning, sweating didn't bother me, but Forrest had a issue with his right heel, there is pain were his heel strikes the ground. It's very tender, almost like a bruise. Again Forrest will quote his bride by saying "Get Over It Forrest". Forrest is getting no respect from his bride or his rival Tri-Girl, who is feeling much better and is back on the war-path with her "soupped-up" bike. She is closing in on me in a hurry. Forrest has got to trick her into making a wrong turn like a flat tire, fake business meeting, phone call from home, tornado warning, she's breathing down my neck. With all that said, Forrest is heading East out of St. Joseph on Hwy 36 towards Macon. (I've adjusted my map to show where Macon is located), then it is due North for the Man. Well it time to say good-bye until tomorrow. All Forrest can think of, is attending the neighbors son's Graduation Open House a couple hours from now, and enjoying a "Mongolian Barbecue" Walk Forrest Walk

June Is Busting Out All Over

8 Miles Today; Forrest began the month of June is nice fashion, with a 60 mile week. The weather was hot & humid, midday workouts takes a lot out of a person. Forrest left his stopwatch home today. I did my route in a not so good 2 hour & 14 minutes. What bothers Forrest about this weather is the "hot blacktop". That equates to very hot and uncomfortable feet. Double socks are a must. Forrest is definitely a morning walker. My bride did her bike tour, and no trouble doing the 17 mile leg. Now she is on a mission to jump it up to a 25 miler or better. Joanne already knows where the tours and on what days she wants to do them this summer. Forrest wonders why can't my bride just ride her bike to the tour starting point say "hello" then turn around and come home to her man. Just think the $$$$ Forrest would save. Now back to Missouri. I'm 8 miles from the city limits of St. Joseph. Then it's east on Hwy. 36 to Macon Mo. before turning North. FYI, St. Joseph was founded in 1843. In its early days it was a outpost and a rough frontier town, serving as a last supply point and jumping-of point over the Missouri River, this due largely to the fact that it was the westernmost point in the United States accessible by rail until after the Civil War. Thus was born, "The Pony Express." Between April 1860, and October 1861, was one of two endpoints of the Pony Express. The route between San Francisco and St. Joseph. O.k. that is it for a very hot Saturday. Until Tomorrow Walk Forrest Walk

You Tube (Almost The Loser Of The Day)

8 Miles Today; Thanks to my son, Tony (who lives in Dallas Tx.) I still have my "Dewitt Tradition Presentation" on my blog. Who needs You Tube. It seems You Tube was upset with Forrest for copyright infringement of the Neil Diamond's song. So they pulled it. To make a long story short, after approx. 6-7 hours off the air, my son Tony got with You Tube and just like magic, Dewitt Baseball in back on "You Tube." You're a genius Dallas Guy. Forrest is really late today writing in his blog. O.K. here goes, it was sunny, and real muggy today. I completed my 8 miles in 2 hours and 14 minutes. I got back at 10:30am. Tomorrow I'll do 6-7 miles early. My bride has a big bike riding event in Laingsburg. A 17 mile tour. She rides 12 miles each and every morning with her friend Audrey. The 17 mile route will be no problem, plus she gets a long sleeve t-shirt. She is looking forward to see different scenery. As of right now, Forrest has passed through the town of Oregon, Missouri, and Forrest can almost see the city lights of St. Joseph, Missouri..just 16 miles away. FYI St. Joseph is the home town of these famous people. Walter Cronkite,,,,,Eminem,,,,Jesse James. More on St. Joseph in next couple days. Thanks again Tony, for all the work you did to getting the basball blog posted. Walk Forrest Walk

Forrest Loves Baseball

9 Miles Today; Forrest has to calm down from last night's miracle at Lansing's Lug Nut Stadium before I write in my blog. Now that I have taken my bath and eaten lunch, Forrest can finally settle in and finish his Thursday blog. With my mileage today I'm 4 miles North of Oregon, Missouri just 26 miles from St. Joseph. The weather today was a very humid and overcast. Temperature in the low to mid-70's. Forrest set out this morning with a home made t-shirt, which said on the front & back Dewitt 5, Grand Ledge 4 written in blue ink. I got waves and honks for a while, then they ceased, because Forrest used a washable felt pen that we purchased for the grand-kids. It seems when the human body sweats these colors run. Forrest's nice art work looked like a 1960's Hippie Tie-Dye Shirt. Last but not least, my body had a nice blue tint to it. Now the true story behind the Neil Diamond song. As part of my announcing duties with the baseball team, I play tunes between innings. All season long Forrest was razed for his songs he selected to entertain the fans. The most common complaint was I was 2 generations behind. "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond got the most play. Now fast forward to last night's game. In the middle of the 6th inning to my surprise, "Sweet Caroline" comes over the stadium speaker system. The students (they like to sit together) stood up and sang the words to the song, and to top it off, look right at me and my bride and gave us a huge smile. Now you tell me, Life Doesn't Get Any Better For This Old Guy.....Forrest closes today blog by saying from the bottom of my heart. "Thanks For The Memories" to Mike Brya and his wonderful baseball team. Until Tomorrow Walk Forrest Walk

Just A Routine Walking Day

8 Miles Today; This morning was overcast, foggy, and really humid. Temperature 63 degrees. Tomorrow and Friday the weather man say 85 to 90 degrees & humid. How about that, summer has finally arrived. Forrest is 43 miles North of St. Joseph Mo. I choose to visit St. Joseph because my family tells me that this city is Ground Zero when it comes to my family tree on my father's side. From there the family migrated to Texas, Illinois, and Michigan. One of the first things I found out about St. Joseph was it had a population of 74,000. Also Jesse James the notorious outlaw was shot and killed on April 3, 1882. More to come. Until Tomorrow Walk Forrest Walk

Nobody's In My Rear-View Mirror

9 Miles Today: Forrest is on a mission to get to St. Joseph ASAP, so I can write about the it. I'm only 51 miles away. Interstate 29 just doesn't do it for the man. I see were state Hwy 111 is close to the Expressway so it's this road for me as long as can stay on it. The weather today is overcast with a high forecast of 73 degrees. Forrest is signing off with a big hello to Tri-Girl, I understand that you are temporary unable to chase down Forrest. Heck, my journey would be boring if you were not in hot pursuit. Take care, and get back on that bike ASAP. Until Tomorrow and God Bless, Walk Forrest Walk

Another Dog Story

8 Miles Today: The weather was a perfect 65 degrees this morning. Forrest got his walk in early, because today was the last day of my 10am stretching class at the "Y". I going to miss them, they were really beneficial. My instructor Danielle made the class fun and rewarding. Thank-you Danielle, it was a fast 7 weeks. Now the dog story....Yesterday as I was almost finished with my 10 miler, Forrest sees this car pull into a driveway and stop in front of a chain link fence with a gate that had to be opened by hand. So out pops a little kid, and he proceeds to fence with the intention of opening it for his dad. At this time, Forrest turns left at the corner and diddy-bops on his merry way. Until I got blasted in my left hip area with what I thought was a starting linebacker for the NEW YORK GIANTS Football Team. When Forrest regained his composer, to my fearful surprise, I got rammed by a huge St. Bernard dog (150# minimum) The dog did not bite me, but he or she did head butt with enough, force to through Forrest off balance. Now back to the little monster who let than man-eater get out of that fenced in yard to chase down a unsuspecting Forrest, and scare the living S--- out of him. The lady of the home came and apologize, but the guy never got out of his car. The Kid, well who knows what happen to him. Until Tomorrow, Walk Forrest Walk (p.s. Is Missouri Ready For Forrest ????

10 Miles Today; Forrest is 7 miles into Missouri, and everything seems to be the same as Nebraska. The only thing I'll do different, is not wear RED... Forrest will be following Interstate 29 South to St. Joseph, before turning East on Hwy 36, to Macon, Missouri, then North to Waterloo, Iowa. Between my walk ,a graduation, & open house my blog suffered today. So a tired Forrest is signing off. God Bless & see ya tomorrow Walk Forrest Walk
