Town Shannon & Shannon Airport

10 Miles Today; Forrest did his usual long Sunday walk in brilliant sunshine with a temperature of 78 degrees. Outside of sweating a little more than usual, Forrest felt fine the whole two hours and fifty minutes. Forrest is resting today in the village of Cratloe, Ireland (population 650) on road N18 some 7 miles from Limerick, Ireland. Forrest passed by Shannon International Airport and the Town of Shannon this morning. Shannon Airport is the newest of the three major airports in the Republic of Ireland. The cities of Dublin and Cork are also home to International flights. In 2008 Shannon International Airport had a total of just over 3 million passengers pass through their facility. I thought that was a lot of people until I checked other airports. Dallas/Ft Worth had 59 million, Chicago O'Hara had 77 million and Atlanta Hartsfield the world's busiest airport had an amazing 77 million passengers in 2008! The Town Shannon, named after the River Shannon is a new town. It was given town status in 1982. Shannon population of 9,222 is located right next to Shannon Airport on road N18 between Ennis, and Limerick City. Forrest will be in Limerick City tomorrow July 6th. Town Shannon was built on reclaimed marshland alongside the newly established Shannon Airport. the town itself was intended as a home for the thousands of workers at the airport. Population growth was never as fast as planned throughout the first few decades of the town's existence. This was partly due to the proximity of great places to live such as Ennis and Limerick City, or even nearby small village of Newmarket-on-Fergus. Forrest would be more than happy to live in anyone of these friendly towns. Tomorrow it's on to Limerick, so until then God Bless, Walk Forrest Walk
