7 Miles Today; A very cold and windy day. Forrest saw absolutely nobody outside walking or jogging. The sun was shinning but the wind played havoc with trying to stay warm. During my morning walk Forrest saw his pal Dave L. going into MacDonald's for coffee. Dave was born and raised in the great state of North Dakota. When my virtual journey approaches his birthplace I will be sure to write about it in my blog.....to be continued after my doctor's appointment later this afternoon......My appointment with the rheumatologist was good news for me. I do not show signs of rheumatoid arthritis. Beginning signs of osteoarthritis are present in the hips and lower back due to the my aging process (getting old is for the birds) was noted on blood work, xrays and MRI. A full report is being sent to my primary physician. In turn he will schedule an appointment for me for follow up treatment. I sign off by saying " I want to Walk, I need to Walk, I WILL WALK!!... Until tomorrow, God Bless Walk Forrest Walk
Lewis & Clark Update
excerpt from a crewman's journal
October 16, 1804 (Camped about two miles above and opposite Big Beaver Creek, Sioux County, North Dakota)
"having made fourteen and a half miles, we encamped. We were soon visited by numbers of these Ricaras
(Indian tribe) who crossed the river hollowing and singing; two of them then returned for some goats’ flesh and buffalo meat dried and fresh, with which they made a feast that lasted till late at night and caused much music and merriment."
